Last week was the much-anticipated, annual Holly Jolly Speed Networking event… Mulled wine, mince pies, new business connections and the exciting announcement of the winners of this year’s Business Ideas Competition – what more could you ask for!

The Business Ideas Competition 2016 had about 50 entries, each consisting of a 2-minute video pitch, and it’s safe to say the judges were very impressed with the overall quality. However not everyone can be a winner, so here are the judge’s selections:

Winner: Raimundo Gonzalez (pictured below, receiving his certificate)

Runner up: Ash Chetri

Runner up: Tianqi Wei & Yiming Yang

A further 14 entries were highly commended: Zachary Baynham-Herd, Yiqiang Zhao, Francia Boakye-Sarpong & Edmund Maciorowski, Jeff Ward, Chris Featherstone & Oliver Pigg, Matthew Plfaum, Sophie McGregor, Ishan Bhasin & Tommy Stockwell, Mark Batunskiy & Navid Meyer, Vinja Kranjec, Colin Tarbat & Alasdair Mackenzie, Maria Quaid & Cormac Quaid, Andrew Bailie & Reuben Moghadam, and Cristian Alistarh.

The winner went home with £200 of Amazon vouchers, and the added prize of working with Entrepreneur IQ to identify his strengths and weaknesses through a psychometric worth £300. Needless to say we will wait eagerly to see the development of Raimundo’s business idea ‘Binaura’, a mobile virtual reality headset for early adopters of VR technology who want to experience better immersion through enhanced 3D audio. The runners up each received £50 in Amazon vouchers. A huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who entered and who came along to our Holly Jolly Speed Networking!

Whether you participated in the Business Ideas Competition or wish you had, why not book a free meeting with one of our business advisers to discuss your idea.
