3 Day Startup took place over the weekend 24th – 26th March with 50 students attending the high energy start-up weekend.
We were the very first to run a 3DS in the UK back in 2013 and the only ones in the UK with a licence to deliver the programme. The students from the University of Edinburgh and beyond formed eight teams and learned how to create a start-up within 72 hours. A diverse range of Undergraduate through to PhD students from business, engineering, science, art and more backgrounds created businesses and social enterprises at the Outreach Centre.
The final night on Sunday 26th March saw the students present their final pitches at the open to the public demo night with judges; Grant Wheeler Head of Enterprise Development, Jim O’Hagan Director of Blackford Technology Services and Chris Speed Chair of Design Informatics and a number of guests.
With positive feedback from students the team cannot wait to hold the next 3DS later this year. There is no competition and therefore no winners however many teams and individuals will take their idea further with the free services offered by LAUNCH.ed. “3DS Edinburgh exceed my expectations”
