The University of Edinburgh has an impressive total of 35 entrants across all three categories for Converge Challenge 2017. With a 6% increase in applicants since 2016 the University of Edinburgh truly is a source of entrepreneurial talent!
This year saw a 31% increase in applications featuring the creative industries. This highlights the success of the Creative Challenge Design & Creativity Award which was introduced last year. University of Edinburgh’s Dr Alexander Enoch, Robotical Ltd won this award in 2016 with his educational robots. When at the University of Edinburgh, Enoch received much support from LAUNCH.ed and won Edinburgh Research and Innovation’s Inspire Launch Grow Awards in 2015. Robotical Ltd continues to receive support from Edinburgh Research and Innovation today.
Another familiar face to LAUNCH.ed is Richard Walker, Photon Force. Walker won the main Converge Challenge Award in 2015 and was a runner-up at the Inspire Launch Grow Awards of the same year. Hannah Dimsdale, Teasdough won the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in 2015 and was a LAUNCH.ed client.
With such a successful winning streak we’ll be keeping everything crossed for this year’s applicants.
