The company was founded by Douglas Martin while a masters student, studying MSc Synthetic Biology and Biotechnology, at the University of Edinburgh in 2015-16.
Aquaculture is worth £1.8 billion a year to the Scottish economy, according to latest Scottish Government figures, but Douglas’ ambition does not stop with aquaculture of Scotland.
“LAUNCH.ed has been fantastic, from day one they have supported us. We walked in with the most basic of ideas and then the business plan came together. Our business adviser supported us through the whole process and helped guide us through the various funding and awards opportunities available.”
Douglas has successfully won several rounds of funding and investment, including Scottish EDGE – Young EDGE, Innovate UK and Shell LiveWIRE Young Entrepreneur of the Year and has also progressed through Climate-KIC Accelerator Programme.
