Student enterprise I 3 Day Startup I LAUNCH.ed

3 Day Startup logo #3DSEdin The next 3DS will be in October/November time

3DS is designed for university students with an emphasis on learning by DOING! The idea is simple: start an enterprise over the course of three days. This high-energy weekend will give you a fast track experience of turning your ideas into reality and encourages cross-disciplinary work.

All students and recent graduates (two years) from the University of Edinburgh are encouraged to apply. From any school/course/year group.

This is an early stage business idea/social enterprise event, therefore, you do not need a set idea to participate.

We need designers, coders, engineers, painters, marketers, you get it, ALL skills and passions! Come along to meet like-minded people at the University, learn new skills and have something great to add to the CV.

  • Day 1 – Friday: Participants arrive at our venue for the weekend – the Outreach Centre – with or without startup ideas – and the LAUNCH.ed team leads the group through dedicated brainstorming, preliminary pitches/feedback, and team selection modules. Some teams work late into the night and others prefer to rest up in preparation for day 2
  • Day 2 – Saturday: Customer discovery (teams exit the building or hit the phones and talk to potential customers), structured mentorship, intermediate pitches and feedback sessions. Day 2 places heavy emphasis on business model generation.
  • Day 3 – Sunday: Continued execution (including pitch workshops) leading into final pitches/demos to an esteemed panel of mentors and investors. This final day will also include Demo Night – invite your friends and family to show them the results of all your hard work with networking and wine.

*Please note 3DS is no longer open to students from other universities. Only current students and graduates from the University of Edinburgh are eligible to apply.

Due to the nature of 3DS you will need to attend all three days, fully.
